Rebooting…

November 17, 2015

mainheaderHello Plant Fans,

If you were wondering, yes, we’re still here. Walker Plant Services Ltd. is still up and running, serving the UK, Europe, and beyond, with new and used parts for Volvo Construction Equipment.

It’s been a while since this page has had any input, for which we apologise.  Staff changes, and day to day business, have led to concentration being placed elsewhere.  Amongst other activities, our main website has been updated, and can be viewed at www.walkerplant.com.

We are also now on Facebook.  If you’re on there yourself, feel free to drop by, take a look, and give us a “Like”.  You can find us at www.facebook.com/walkerplantservices.

In the meantime, we will accommodate the non-Facebookers amongst you by posting updates via WordPress as well.

Volvo L220 Overhaul Update

July 3, 2012

We had completed the bulk of the work on this shovel, when we undertook a large service before delivery.

An oil change from the rear differential revealed it was badly contaminated with steel and a test drive around the yard confirmed our suspicion that there was unacceptable wear.

We are refurbishing the unit to our customer’s instruction. Pictures show some of the wear.

Volvo A35 – Can You Help Us?

February 27, 2012

Although we have started dismantling this Volvo A35, most parts are still available. It was bought in very good condition and has obviously came from a good home. It is becoming more and more difficult to find this type of machinery in good condition at the right price for dismantling.  Anybody reading this blog who knows the whereabouts of similar trucks – please contact us, we will pay for information leading to a purchase.

Workshop in Action: Caterpillar 980G Repair

August 25, 2010

This week we are attending to some faults on a Caterpillar 980G loading shovel.  The hitch bearings are badly worn and we have to ‘line-bore’ the trunion plates to accept our manufactured weld-in bushes.  When this is finished the replaceable bushes and bearings can be fitted.  All-in-all a time-consuming and expensive repair, this could have been avoided with a more diligent maintainance regime.
